Zernez is located right next to the Swiss National Park and brings Engadin’s unique lifestyle to life with traditional architecture and great tourism infrastructure. The Alpine village has everything you need for an unforgettable holiday: a family-friendly pool and spa complex, a sports centre featuring an athletics track and playing field, mini golf course, kids’ playground, skate park, natural and artificial ice skating rinks, as well as storage lockers for cross-country skiers. The large camping ground is also very popular among the village’s regular visitors. Located on the Ofenpass, an historically important transport hub between Lower and Upper Engadin, Zernez is a great place to start your adventure in this breathtaking Alpine landscape. As the gateway to the region, Zernez is connected to an impressive network of hiking, cycling and mountain biking trails.
Swiss National Park
Established in 1914, the national park has three clear mandates: to protect, research and inform. The park is strictly protected from human influence, so that the environment can develop in its natural state. This approach has fostered an incredibly diverse range flora and fauna, particularly among very small organisms. You can experience this rich biodiversity on your own or as part of a guided hiking group, as you explore the 170 km² national park. The national park visitor centre in Zernez is also worth a visit, particularly as an alternative to hiking when the weather is poor. Check out the Swiss National Park website for information regarding the current exhibitions or enquire at the tourist information centre in Zernez. The national park is completely closed in winter for conservation reasons.
