Lower Engadine craftsmanship

Under expert guidance, participants can gain their first welding experience in the workshop. You then have the opportunity to either make a unique piece (furniture, decorative item, etc.) or repair an item you have brought with you.

Participants can choose the blank of their choice from a range of 300 items. In a two-hour course, the unique stamping technique and its symbolism are explained by Sgrafits Engiadinais under expert guidance. You can also gain an insight into other painting techniques.

Local painter Josin Neuhäusler demonstrates the technique of sgraffito art and explains its significance. 

Participants have the opportunity to take a look inside Rudolf Glaser's studio. You can expect a guided tour through the world of pictures and Mr. Glaser will explain the various techniques and pictorial grounds of his painting.

 A journey of discovery into the centuries-old Alpine dried meat craft of the Bacharia Engiadinaisa. Tasting of Bündner and deer dried meat and salsiz with a glass of wine in the «laboratori dal gust». Followed by a tour of the rock cellar and information on meat maturing in the cellar.

For two hundred years, the Fundaziun Stamparia Strada operated the renowned book and newspaper printing works, which was important for the development of the Lower Engadin Romansh «Vallader». Among the publications, the newly added special section BIBLES is of great interest.

In addition to the main exhibition on the way of life and culture of an agricultural Alpine region, the Lower Engadine Museum of Local History also has a large library containing the first Romansh Bible to be translated and printed in Scuol in 1679.

The MUZEUM SUSCH opened its doors on January 2, 2019 in the idyllic valley of the Inn River against the backdrop of the Alps, on the grounds of a medieval monastery: A new addition to the variety of experimental places for art that seek and create references in the picturesque landscape of the Engadin.

A unique Alberto Giacometti collection in the Berghotel. An exhibition of prints (lithographs and etchings) by the world-famous Bergell artist with a total of over 200 exhibits.

As a landmark of the Lower Engadine, Tarasp Castle in Graubünden majestically overlooks the region. It is impressively embedded in the surrounding mountains with the unspoiled natural landscape and the charming village of Tarasp. Inside, a historical journey into the past combined with modern art awaits.
