Come along on this beautiful and panoramic hike. You will see a variety of flowers, the Lai da Minschun, a unique mountain panorama and the world's best Kaiserschmarrn on the Alp Laret.
On a Saturday morning in July, my colleague Sarah and I set off for the Scuol cable cars. When we met in the village, the weather looked relatively good and at 09.30 it was also pleasantly warm. In the gondola on the way to the Motta Naluns mountain station the visibility was a bit cloudy and we were already afraid that we would find ourselves in a thick blanket of fog on the Piz Clünas. The first part of the route we took on the hiking trail back towards Alp Clünas, where we turned into a narrow path at the bar «La Palma». We followed this path for about 20 minutes until the path signal showed us the way up to our destination: the Piz Clünas.
We covered the promising ascent in 50 minutes. On the way we could admire the many different mountain flowers. Arrived at the summit we rested for a while and had lunch. The initial uncertainty about the fog quickly disappeared – because there was sunshine on the Piz Clünas and we could look down on Scuol and the surrounding villages as well as marvel at the magnificent Lower Engadine Dolomites. The descent surprised us with a special highlight when we saw the small and crystal clear mountain lake «Lai da Minschun». The temperature was a bit too cool for swimming, but we enjoyed the sight all the more.
The route continued over the Alp Laret, where we made a longer stop and enjoyed a delicious meal. The Kaiserschmarrn is highly recommended – just the right thing for hungry hikers and bikers. Around 16.00 hrs the cows, which are allowed to spend the day on the alp, returned to their stables. We also decided to set off in the direction of the valley as well and made our way to Prui to take the chairlift to Ftan. Alternatively I can also recommend the hike to Ftan. It starts off along a hiking trail and leads into a beautiful forest path. The descent is easy and not too steep. In Ftan we caught the post bus towards Scuol just in time and dropped into our seats exhausted but satisfied. An eventful hike came to an end and it was certainly not the last time we were on this wonderful mountain peak.
