Cross-country skiing in Lower Engadin
All is quiet in the depths of the forest, powder snow flutters onto the skiing track from the treetops above, while in the distance, the majestic mountains of Lower Engadin surge skywards. As we watch the sunlight play on the frozen Inn river, we feel like we could keep on skiing forever. We power on, safe in the knowledge that we can catch a Postbus or the Rhätische Bahn railway, whenever we want to, from any of the local villages. Our misty breath rises rhythmically ahead of us. “Breathtaking,” we think and wonder whether our high spirits are fuelled by the crisp, fresh mountain air or the undulations in the skiing track. After all, it’s hard not to feel inspired by the morning panorama of this high-altitude route.
